Psychotherapy and Counselling in Bristol and Online
Read on to find out more on my approach towards psychotherapy, my experience and the step-by-step process; from initial consultation, weekly sessions and the preparation towards the end of our work together
My Approach
When you are choosing a therapist, it can be confusing to understand who is right for you.
I work in an integrative, relational way, which means that my training has taught me a variety of approaches to psychotherapy; I focus on tailoring our work to meet your unique needs, in a secure, non-judgmental environment.
Many aspects of emotional distress can be reactions of past trauma and how we adapt to cope. Whilst seemingly useful, this response may limit our ability to exercise autonomy and making choices for the future.
I will support you in unravelling these experiences through a compassionate and empathetic viewpoint. I specialise in working with neurodiverse communities, people with complex emotional needs and those recovering from traumatic experiences.
I promote an anti-oppressive approach to therapy, and utilise supervision processes to raise awareness of my own potential bias, blind spots or gaps in knowledge. This supports the work and keeps both the client and myself safe. I am particularly keen to accommodate any further needs for people from the Global Majority, and those who may need reasonable adjustments under the 2010 Equality act.
My Qualifications
I am a fully insured, qualified integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and an Integrative psychotherapist for adults (18+). I am an Individual member of the BACP (membership no. 00975963) and a training member of the UKCP (membership no. 2011174566) whose code of ethics I abide by.
I am currently working towards an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute, and enrolled on a Foundation course for Open Dialogue and Systemic Family therapy with Open Dialogue UK.
My Experience

I offer my expertise in assisting individuals facing a diverse range of challenges and circumstances:
- Negative childhood experiences and trauma

From these varied work experiences, I am privileged to have worked with people from a variety of cultural, religious, socio-economic backgrounds and ages.
Clients can often have an instinctive feeling of whether the therapist is someone they can trust and open up to, and I believe you must trust this feeling to choose the right therapist for you.
What to expect
Trust and safety is the foundation of our work – this is why we will start with an initial consultation to see if psychotherapy with me would be suitable for you.
Step 1 – Get in Touch
This is an opportunity for you to get a feel of whether this is the right thing for you and whether we could work together.
In our session, I will outline what you can expect from therapy together, and invite you to bring any concerns or questions you may have.
Step 2 – Initial Consultation
If you decide you would like to work together, I would forward you our therapeutic contract.
We would arrange to typically meet weekly at the same time and contract an initial six sessions to start with.
Towards the end of the six sessions, we would review the work together, and should you wish to continue we would work out an agreement to keep it open-ended for however long you feel you need.
Step 3 – Weekly Sessions
Each session is 50 minutes.
I work in a psychodynamic format, contracting to meet at the same time and same place every week.
I have several practice rooms in person, and have undergone BACP training to offer remote therapy online if needed.
Step 4 – How will it end?
Therapy will end when you decide it is the right time.
We can discuss this in session, and in my contract we would agree at the outset to have a minimum of two weeks notice prior to ending.
This will give us an opportunity to close our work together.
